Through an octave put aside by the developer, key mappings allow an incredible amount of performance options which really do induce massive changes. Part of what separates Vocalise would be the unbelievable amount of modulation that can take place through the Motion and Tilt Pages. In addition to Complex Pads, 120 Single Pads, 16 Sustained and Moving Vowel Pads, and 16 Performance Palettes. Vocalise as a library is made up of 4 GB of uncompressed audio, featuring vocalists like Siobhan Magnus, of American Idol Season 9. And what’s crazy is there are more than a few pages with this instrument, and they all animate. Moving, animated waveforms wind between knobs and act as the gravitational center for an audio galaxy that continually expands before your eyes and ears.

Seriously, you just download the Connect installer, type in your Auth code, and then the installation pretty much takes care of itself. I found this out very quickly after the almost seamless installation that I never really sat there for. In fact, I have seen very few of them deliver. At first, I got a little nervous when I heard about Vocalise as I’ve been bitten by grand choir collections that never really deliver. I’ve been zealously adding choir patches of all forms to my library ever since. A Roland Super Jupiter introduced me to the concept of synthesized vocals at a very early age. I don't use it often, but if you no other vocal libraries and would want to include these sounds, it's nice enough to get some valuable sounds from.I’ll admit that I am a bit of a choir fanatic. You can still click the keys in Kontakt with your mouse. I think all or most of the presets/"instruments" have key switches on the bottom keys for pitch changing and other functions, and at the same time key switches all the way on the top keys-so both ends of the 88 keys.
If you don't have an 88-key keyboard, then at least some of the key switches will out of your range. But the phrases in the right pitch can sound fine-and be used for maybe weaving in here and there in a EDM track for example. There is some weirdness, like adjusting the release is not a nice experience (very tiny range of the knob where it sounds usable).Ĭhanging pitches on the phrases (via the switching keys) can make some of it sound awful, like a synthesized robot kid voice. I like the 9 stacked voice options and 10 solo voice options in the Sustained Vowels. It has six categories of instruments/presets: Pads, Performance Palettes, Phrase Menus, Rhythmic Pedals, Scapes and Remixed Motifs, and Sustained Vowels. But I can see one using it for all sorts of tracks. It is not on the level of a sampled choir library (those pricey ones, so it goes). I got Vocalise 2 some time in the last year.
